We’ve previously tried some products from Mary & May and we absolutely love them (read our review here) so we’re glad that we got the chance to try more from the brand. We have to say, out of all the brands that we’ve tried in 2021, this has easily become one of our favorites! From the gorgeous packaging to the product ingredients – this brand is something worth exploring! This time, we received some of their skincare products that focus on brightening the skin.
The Niacinamide Vitamin C Brightening Mask contains two of the most well-known and commonly used skincare ingredient that brightens the skin and reduces the appearance of freckles and blemishes – niacinamide & vitamin C. It also contains hyaluronic acid which hydrates. A container has 30 sheet masks, a protective cap to make sure that the masks do not not dry out, and a tweezer for easier and more hygienic way to get the mask. We really like how the masks are packaged compared to the single-use packaging of sheet masks. We just find this more economical and earth-friendly since the tub can be reused once we use up all the masks.
These masks can be used on a daily basis after the toner step but we personally prefer to use sheet masks only once to twice a week. Everything about this mask is a sensory experience that is perfect for a DIY home spa! As soon as we opened the tub of masks, we were welcomed with a light floral scent that we are starting to associate with Mary & May. It smells exactly like the Mary & May Vitamin B5 + Bifida Toner. We didn’t have to worry about dipping our fingers into the tub and contaminating all the other sheet masks since this came with a tweezer. The sheet mask itself is soft, easy to unfold, and has a good fit. We could move around without the mask slipping down. Another good thing about this mask is that it provides a slight cooling sensation when applied – so refreshing! The sheet mask has just the right amount of essence – not like other masks which has too much essence that drip down the mask. The essence is also not sticky and tacky. We had the sheet mask on for 20 minutes and it was still damp. This makes our skin feel hydrated and look glowy.
The Niacinamide + Chaenomeles Sinsensis Serum contains 2% niacinamide and 93% chaenomeles sinensis fruit extract that is rich in Vitamin C and flavonoid tannin. Packed with the ingredients mentioned, this serum brightens the skin tone and helps keep skin clear, smooth, and clean. It is packaged in a 30ml glass bottle with a dropper.
It has a light brownish color, an almost gel-like texture, and has no detectable scent. It is a lightweight serum that gets absorbed quickly and does not leave any sticky residue. We didn’t experience any irritations while using this too. We do think this serum gives our skin a subtle glow.
The Tranexamic Acid + Glutathione Eye Cream contains ingredients that brighten the skin and improve the skin tone. It is packaged in a 30ml squeeze tube container. This packaging design makes it easier to dispense a more accurate amount of product compared to those in jars. More hygienic too!
This cream can also be used and applied to areas with blemishes and freckles to lighten them. Our skin has been at it’s best lately so we’ve only used this as an eye cream and not a blemish cream. This cream is not as thick as some of the eye creams that we’ve used but it is creamy. It’s light and not sticky. It made our eye area slightly brighter and feel moisturized through the day. It does have a light fragrance so if you’re sensitive to scents, you might want to do a patch test first. We didn’t experience any irritations with this though.
We actually have tried the Idebenone + Blackberry Complex Intensive Total Care Cream before and have reviewed it here. This cream comes from Mary & May’s anti-aging line and contains idebenone and blackberry which has antioxidant properties and ceramide which is known to strengthen skin barrier. The packaging is also so pretty! It comes in a 70ml glass jar with a small spatula.
We have been reaching for this cream often since we first got it in November. The cream is slightly thick and bouncy, almost like jello, but is light enough to be used both in the morning and in the evening. The yellow color of the cream is from the idebenone. It leaves a slightly dewy finish and makes our skin feel soft, plump, and moisturized.
