We remember when we were first getting into skincare back in 2016/2017, this Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask from Skinfood was immensely popular. Many people were trying it out and it instantly became a cult favorite.
Fast forward a few years, in the present, the Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask is still one of Skinfood’s bestseller. When someone says Skinfood, this is the first product that we think of!
Stylekorean has sent us the Skinfood Black Sugar Mask and the Skinfood Egg White Pore Mask to try and review.

The Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash-Off is a moisturizing and exfoliating mask. The star ingredient of this product is the black sugar granules that gently remove dead skin cells to prevent them from clogging pores.
To use, massage into damp skin after cleansing, avoiding the lip and eye area. Be extra gentle when massaging. You can also mix the mask with some water or cleansing oil to melt the sugar granules. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.
When we first got this mask, we were initially hesitant to try it. Recent trends in skincare favor chemical exfoliators over physical exfoliators because the granules in physical exfoliators may sometimes damage the skin. However, when we opened the cap and saw the mask, we realized that we would not encounter this issue. Although you can see the granules in the photo, the texture of the mask is pretty soft and the granules are gentle and not abrasive.
It does not come with a spatula so we use our own applicator from our collection of skincare scoops and spatulas. The mask feels thick on the skin, like most nourishing masks. It has a citrus scent that stays while you have the mask on. The granules are gentle on the skin and did not irritate our skin. Our skin looks and feels so soft and smooth after using this mask.

The Skinfood Egg White Pore Mask is a pore-refining mask that removes pore-clogging oil for clearer skin. It contains albumen (also known as egg whites) which helps regulate oil production, removes skin impurities like dirt and dust from pores, and minimizes appearance of pores. It is also formulate with bentonite and kaolin which unclog the pores and exfoliate the skin.
To use, apply an even layer on the face for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water. Looking at the product description, this seems comparable to clay masks because it contains some ingredients, like betonite and kaolin, which are also present in other clay masks.
Like the black sugar mask, this did not come with a spatula so we used one from our stash at home. The texture of this mask is thicker so it takes more effort to apply than the black sugar mask. It has a pleasant perfumed scent. The creamy mask dries after a few minutes but not to the point of cracking or feeling too tight. We could still talk with this mask on and dried. We did not experience any redness or irritation while using this. Our skin feels so clean and refreshed after each use. We noticed that our nose was clearer and smoother too.
