#28: Trending Korean skincare brand – Beauty of Joseon | Ginseng products review

Beauty of Joseon has been really popular on social media lately. Their sunscreen, the Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics (SPF 50+ PA++++), has been making waves for its light moisturizing texture that feels comfortable on the skin. Now that the brand is receiving the recognition it deserves, many are able to explore and appreciate other products from the brand.

Beauty of Joseon’s core philosophy is creating effective skincare products with the use of hanbang ingredients – meaning ingredients from traditional Korean medicine. One of the ingredients that the make use of is ginseng.

Ginseng is known as a precious ingredient since the Joseon dynasty. It has holistic benefits from improving digestive function and brain activity to reducing stress and boosting overall physical health. It also helps improve the skin because it is a well-known in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as preventing dark spots.

We received a few products from Beauty of Joseon’s Ginseng line to try and review. Keep reading to see how each product fared.

GINSENG CLEANSING OIL

Star ingredients: (1) soybean oil that gently cleanses and unclogs pores and conditions the skin (2) ginseng seed oil that protects the skin from irritants

We like using this cleansing oil for our daily double cleanse. The oil texture doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin and feels like it effectively removes the dirt and sunscreen. It also performs well in removing some makeup but if you’re using the tough, waterproof mascara, this one can’t completely remove it. Still, we think this one is great and we enjoy using it on most nights when we don’t use waterproof makeup. We like the light, luxurious feel of the oil and how easy it is to rinse off.

GINSENG ESSENCE WATER

Star ingredients: (1) ginseng root water, ginseng complex, and adenosine that hydrate the skin from within and has anti-aging properties (2) niacinamide that helps with sebum control and skin brightening

This essence water has a light, watery consistency that doesn’t feel sticky or tacky on the skin. It has a very faint ginseng scent that is almost unnoticeable. This toner/essence is great for layering as it feels very light on the skin. This kept our skin hydrated and lightly brighter and radiant. It can also be used as a mist for quick touch ups and hydration bursts when the skin feels dry midday.

REVIVE SERUM

Star ingredients: (1) ginseng root water that improves appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation (2) snail mucin that repairs damaged skin and helps with skin elasticity

This one has a more evident ginseng scent but nothing disturbing. The gel-type consistency spreads easily on the skin and is absorbed quickly. One of our favorite ingredients lately is snail mucin. We really see the difference whenever we use products with snail mucin – our skin always looks more radiant and healthier than ever. This serum is very nourishing and hydrating and made our skin look plump and radiant.

REVIVE EYE SERUM: GINSENG + RETINAL

Star ingredients: ginseng root extract and retinal liposome that both help improve the appearance of fine lines

The texture – we love!! It has a light yet creamy consistency that spreads well on the skin. Despite the cream-type texture, it didn’t give us any milia. We like using this eye cream at night. It feels light yet nourishing on the skin. It’s gentle too. We didn’t feel any stinging or irritations in the sensitive eye area. For now, we can see that our eyes look more plump and hydrated. Looking forward to seeing how this one fares on our fine lines as the months go by.
