Okay, okay. We haven’t tried all of Mary & May’s Cica products but we have tried a majority of it! Centella asiatica (Cica) is one of the first skincare ingredients that we fell in love with! The first time we tried products with this ingredients in 2020, we instantly knew that Cica is something that we would always want in our routine.
We received a few products from Stylekorean and Mary & May and we’re excited to share our thoughts with you. We have tried a variety of Korean skincare brands in the past years and recently this brand tops our list! From the brand aesthetic to the texture, scent, functionality and effectivity of the products, this brand is a must-try!
The Mary & May CICA Tea Tree Soothing Wash Off Pack is a clay mask that absorbs excess oil, cleans the pores, and soothes the skin. It contains ground cica leaves, stems, and flowers, as well as cica, heartleaf, and tea tree extract. It has a smooth and creamy consistency that is easy to apply on the skin. Like most clay masks, this one dries up after a 10-15 minutes. When we rinse this off with water, we massage the cica bits to gently exfoliate the skin. It’s not difficult to rinse off. It didn’t dry out our skin but it didn’t leave our skin feeling hydrated either. This is why we think the cica toner (discussed below) is perfect to use immediately after using this mask. What we like about this mask is that it did not irritate our skin and how it made our skin look clearer and less oily.
The Mary & May Daily Safe Black Head Clear Nose Pack contains 10 sets of step 1 and 2 mask sheets for the nose and some black cotton swabs. The step 1 mask sheet contains exfoliating ingredients like witch hazel extract, salvia leaf extract, white willow bark extract, and niacinamide while the step 2 mask sheet contains soothing and tightening ingredients like cica, heartleaf, tea tree, and peptides. To use, it is recommended to (1) wear the step 1 mask sheet on the nose for 10-15 minutes, (2) remove the mask and gently wipe the nose with the cotton swab, and (3) wear the step 2 mask sheet for 10 minutes. We were shocked with how smooth our nose felt after using this one. No need for strong, irritating peel of masks when you’ve got this one! We also appreciate that it came in a set – one mask for exfoliating and one for soothing so there will be less chances for the skin to be irritated.
The Mary & May Vegan CICA TeaTree AHA PHA Toner is a gentle soothing and exfoliating toner. With cica, tea tree, AHA, and PHA, this toner is great for those who are looking for a toner that will help remove dead skin cells, manage excess sebum, and soothe and moisturize the skin. This has a watery texture and a light tea tree scent that smells wonderful. It also feels refreshing on the skin. It keeps our skin feeling hydrated, smooth, and ready for the next step of our skincare routine.
The Mary & May CICA Houttuynia Tea Tree Calming Mask comes in a convenient container. A container has 30 sheet masks and a plastic tweezer to get the product. As the name suggests, this one has cica, heartleaf, and tea tree. We have been using this sheet mask for a few months now and we find ourselves reaching for it often. It calms, hydrates, and soothes our skin immediately. Among all the sheet masks we’ve tried, this also by far has the best scent! This makes our skin look and feel smooth and healthy, even when our skin is initially red and irritated.
Last but not the least, the Mary & May CICA Soothing Sun Cream SP50+ PA++++. This creamy sunscreen applies elegantly on the skin with no tugging. It doesn’t leave any white cast and does not pill too. We did not experience any irritations or stinging when we used this. It also has a washable formula that makes it easier to wash off compared to other sunscreens.
