#18: Pyunkang Yul Calming Line

Pyunkang Yul is a Korean skincare brand developed by Pyunkang Oriental Medical Clinic, a well-known oriental medicine clinic in Korea. Pyunkang Yul strives to create simple and trustworthy products, thus, they formulate their products only with the essential ingredients to target specific skin goals.

StyleKorean sent us some products from Pyunkang Yul Calming Line to try and review. The Pyunkang Yul Calming Line was created to soothe and calm sensitive skin. We received the Calming Moisture Mist, Calming Toner Pad, Calming Moisture Serum, Calming Moisture Repair Balm, and Clear Spot Patch. All the four products from the Pyunkang Yul Calming Line are formulated with calming and soothing ingredients – centella asiatica extract, tea tree, and lonicera japonica flower extract.

The Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Mist is a mist the hydrates and refreshes the skin. Besides the calming ingredients of the line, it also contains bamboo extract (refreshes and moisturizes), panthenol and 5 hyaluronic acids (moisturizes and deeply hydrates), and AHA, PHA, and white willow bark extract (smoothens skin texture, pore care, removes excess sebum). It is packaged in a 100ml spray bottle. To use, it is recommended to spray at a distance of around 15cm from the face. It is to be used after washing the face whenever skin feels dry.

It has a light and watery texture and has no scent. The mist does not feel sticky or tacky. We prefer using this mist whenever our skin feels dry throughout the day. We like how this refreshes our skin and wakes us up midday. If there’s one thing we’d change about this though, is that we hope it was a bit more cooling so it’s extra refreshing.

The Pyunkang Yul Calming Toner Pad contains AHA & PHA from fruits and white willow bark extract to gently exfoliate the skin. It also contains calming ingredients listed above, bamboo extract, panthenol, and 5 hyaluronic acids. This toner pad is suitable for acne-prone and sensitive skin and aims to smoothen skin texture. One tub contains 70 pads. The cotton pads are 3 inches and are double-sided — one embossed side and one soft side. It is recommended to be used in the first step of the skincare routine.

These toner pads are larger than most toner pads we’ve tried. One toner pad is as big as our cheek. The pads are thin and has the right amount of essence. This did not come with a plastic tweezer to help get the toner pads so you’d have to use your fingers to separate one toner pad from the rest of the pads. The toner pads are very gentle and did not cause any irritations when swiped on the face. The essence is not sticky and was absorbed quickly too. We like using this for toner masking by using 2-4 toner pads and placing them on our face. We noticed that this slightly helped calm redness and give a light boost of hydration.

The Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Serum is a hydrating and calming serum that contains calming ingredients of the Pyunkang Yul Calming Line, 2 peptides, ceramides and 5 hyaluronic acids (strengthens skin barrier and hydrates the skin). It comes in a 30ml bottle with a dropper. No issues with dispensing the product because of how it is packaged, unlike few other ampoules. It is to be used after the toner step. Apply an appropriate amount and spread evenly on the face.

It has a light, watery texture and has no scent. It feels slightly refreshing upon application. No sticky or tacky feeling when applied and it is quickly absorbed by the skin. What we like about this serum is that even if we accidentally get more than the right amount of product, it never feels sticky or tacky – even when layered. We expected this to be more of a calming serum so we were pleasantly surprised to see that this gave our skin an extra boost of hydration.

The Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Repair Balm is formulated with the same calming ingredients mentioned, 2 types of peptides, panthenol, and 5 hyaluronic acids. It is packaged in a 30ml jar. No spatula is included so you can either use other spatulas from your stash or your fingers. It is recommended to be used in place of a moisturizer at the end of the skincare routine.

It has a balmy texture that surprisingly is easy to spread and blend onto the skin. We suggest that you only use a small amount of cream because if you use too much, it might take a while for it to be absorbed. Skin might also look a bit greasy when too much of this is applied. When just the right amount is used, this balm gives a beautiful, dewy, glowy finish. This cream is especially recommended for sensitive, irritated, and troubled skin as it moisturizes and calms the skin.

The Pyunkang Yul Clear Spot Patch is an acne spot patch that absorbs all the gunk from pimples. It also helps minimize and prevent acne scars. It is recommended to be applied on clean skin before putting any products on the face.

It is a very thin pimple patch (0.01 inch) that is *almost* not noticable (we think all acne patches are slightly noticable lol). This pack came with 9 pieces of 10mm patches and 9 pieces of 12mm patches. It stays in place and removes all the gunk from pimples – what more can we ask for?
